Seriously Dating Newly Married Couples |
Engaged Couples Congratulations on your engagement! By now you have probably found out how much goes into preparing for the wedding of your dreams. You will find the same is true if you want to achieve the marriage of your dreams. Neither one just happens on their own. They both take time and effort, but a wonderful wedding and a happy marriage are worth working for. We have pulled together a list of local resources to help you achieve your dream wedding and more importantly your dream marriage. Researchers have found if you gain some basic relationship skills and knowledge before you get married those skills can significantly help you achieve your dream of a happy, healthy lifelong marriage. So if you want to make your marriage dream become a reality we suggest a proactive marriage preparation program to help you gain these basic relationship skills and knowledge. Don't forget to continually gain additional relationship skills and knowledge after you get married. What would have happened to Tiger Woods if after a few basic lessons from his dad he decided he didn't need to learn anything else? Nurturing the marriage of your dreams is a lot like your golf game. If you ever stop improving and fine tuning your marriage, then it will become less and less satisfying over time. We strongly encourage every married couple to participate in some sort of structured "Marriage Enrichment" program every year of their marriage. By doing so you greatly increase the likelihood that you will achieve your dream of a happy, healthy lifelong marriage. We have a section on this web site of special programs for Newly Married Couples; check it out either now, or soon after you are married. The table below lists some of the programs available to help Engaged Couples gain basic relationship skills and knowledge that can help them form and sustain a healthy marriage. Please contact the contact person well in advance of the program you are interested in to make arrangements to participate in the program; many of these programs will fill up well quickly. We highly recommend you become an informed consumer before you sign up for one of these programs. Possible questions you might ask include: 1. What is your experience and training in this program? 2. Is this program based on research and can you supply me with the references for the research articles it is based on? 3. What is the total cost for attending this program and how long does it last? 4. What are the specific relationship skills and knowledge taught in this program? 5. What are your expectations of us as participants? 6. Will any participant ever be asked or expected to share personal experiences in a group setting? If you offer a marriage education class and would like for it to be listed please send us an email. Program
